Frances Evins Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2026.
Frances Jean Mullins Evins, age 91, passed away on December 31, 2025. Born November 2, 1934, in Garwood, Texas, Jean (as she was known) lived most of her early life in central Texas.

She studied for two years at Bob Jones University, where she met her husband, Kenneth, whom she married in 1954. She continued her education at Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX where she received her degree in education. She and Kenneth moved to Arizona where he continued his ministry as a pastor in Sonoita-a ranching town close to the Mexican border--and she worked at home caring for their five children.

After serving in ministries in Sunnyslope (Phoenix) and Bagdad, they moved to Bullhead City in 1969. Kenneth started a new church there and Jean got a job in the brand-new Mohave High School as an English teacher. She would continue her career there, both as an English teacher and a librarian, for over 30 years. Her job as the librarian encompassed many areas-including videotaping the football games down on the sidelines.

Shortly before retiring, she took on the responsibility of setting up the library at River Valley High School, a new school in the district. She was honored for her work there with the naming of the local National Honor Society-the Jean Evins chapter.

Kenneth and Jean loved being in ministry even though their lives were not always easy. As a teacher in a public high school, Jean's testimony was bright and several students came to know Christ as a result of her sharing her faith.

Music was always a big part of her life, and she made sure all her children were able to take piano lessons and go on to be involved in many different areas of music. She was instrumental in bringing the "Community Concert" organization to Bullhead City and worked with them for a number of years to bring many great artists to the area.

Not surprisingly, Jean was an avid reader and was able to continue this loved pastime until her death. Her favorite author was Jan Karon and often when the going got tough she would say, "Let's just move to Mitford!" She also loved to sew, making the wedding dresses for all three of her daughters. Tole painting was another hobby, and her children and grandchildren have many beautiful Christmas ornaments that she made.

Following a fall in 2021, she moved to live with her daughter Sonya and her husband David in Oklahoma. What a joy and blessing this was for her to be cared for so lovingly by her daughter.

The most important thing that Jean would want all to know about her is that she walked with Jesus all of her life. She served the people at Trinity Baptist Church, where her son Craig is the pastor, from its founding in 1978 until her death-- attending prayer meetings on Zoom every week. She was a woman of faith and a woman of prayer.

Her legacy is that of living her life for and serving her Savior, praying daily for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until her death.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her parents Esther and Grady Mullins, and her brother Robert.

She is survived by her five children: Connie (Dale) Edwards of San Antonio, TX; Randy (Pam) of Oak Hills, CA; Kathi (Ken) of Lynnville, IA; Craig (Sarah) of Bullhead City, AZ; and Sonya (David) of Moore, OK; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at City Bible Church in Bullhead City.

Memorials can be sent to Trinity Baptist Church, 1941 Havasupai Dr., Bullhead City Arizona, 86442 for facility improvements.
