She was born May 22, 1921, in Malvern, Iowa, to George and Edith (McFall) VanHorne. She lived 74 years in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1939. Frances was united in marriage to William Walden Frame on January 28, 1949. During her later years she moved to Assisted Living in Omaha, where she lived for 20 months. In 2001 she moved to Edgerton, Minn. She moved again to Cedar Falls, Iowa, in August 2008. Frances worked 11 years at Mutual of Omaha as a supervisor with the Flying Squadron, 6 years at the Council Bluffs Public Library as a circulation clerk and 16 years at the Council Bluffs Visiting Nurses. She was an active member of Broadway United Methodist Church. She also served several years as a trustee on the Board. She also volunteered at the General Dodge House, Jennie Edmundson Hospital and the Western Heritage Museum.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; sister, Thelma (Roy) Rasmussen; brother, Bud (Betty) Van Horne; and step-son, Richard W. Frame.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Sally and Rev. David VanderLeest, of Stout; son, Bill and Gayle Frame, of Calliope, Queensland, Australia; step-daughter-in-law, Judy Frame, of Smithville, Mo,; step-son, John and Dee Frame, of Camdenton, Mo.; grandson, Dr. Steven and Dr. Tarra VanderLeest, of Sheldon, Iowa; great granddaughters, Aliza Christine and Isabelle Anne Vander Leest, of Sheldon; four step grandchildren; and ten step great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family on October 19, 9 to 11 a.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. Luncheon will follow immediately at Broadway Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., at the East Liberty Cemetery near Malvern, Iowa.
