Frances Garguilo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Amico Funeral Home from Feb. 12 to Feb. 13, 2026.
Frances Garguilo, 99, left this world with her loving family by her side on February 9, 2026. Born on January 1, 1927, the fourth of nine children born to Frank and Carmella Gargiulo. Originally settled in Little Falls, her family relocated to Gloversville to work in the leather industry that afforded many locals of the time steady jobs and a vibrant community to raise their families. She put roots down and was a fixture in her West End neighborhood where she remained for the duration of her life.

Fran was a devout Catholic and active member of the church community. She worked in several local leather mills, but her most important life's work was that of a caring and attentive family member. She cherished her family and was always in tune with their needs and the details of their lives. Often the hostess, she kept a home that was full of laughter and love. Each Sunday following Mass, family and close friends would gather in her small upstairs apartment for coffee hour with lively conversation and dishes to pass. All were welcome and no one left hungry. Those were special times for all who joined or stopped by.

Fran is survived by her two daughters Paula DeSantis (Frank) and Patricia Perkov Anadio, three brothers Louis Garguilo (Millie), Frank (BeBe) Garguilo, and Robert (Bobby) Gargiulo; sister-in-law Justine (Tina) Garguilo, grandchildren Dominic (Nic) Anadio III (Nicole), Douglas Anadio, Susan DeSantis, Cora DeSantis, Jason DeSantis (Lynn), Frank DeSantis Jr (Liane), Michael DeSantis, Jonathan DeSantis (Danielle); as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whom she adored.

Fran was predeceased by her parents Frank and Carmella (Millie) Gargiulo, as well as her siblings Connie Passero, Alfred (Al) Garguilo, Mary Priolo, Dorothy Roy, Midge DeMagistris and her son-in-law Dominic (Doc) Anadio Jr.

Fran always had a way to make those around her feel cared for and special. She was a genuine and loving woman. A matriarch who, through her presence, kept her large family connected. A lifetime of memories will live on in the hearts of those close with her.

The family extends their gratitude to her aides Deborah Lodell-Cook, Audrey Ryder, and Missy Johnson and all those who assisted with Fran's loving care at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 South Main Street, Gloversville, NY. Friends may call at 10:00 AM with mass to follow at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life luncheon for Fran will take place at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown. NY from 12:30-3:00 PM.
