Frances Ann Hand

DOVER – Frances Ann (Shade) Hand, 79 of Dover, passed away, Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Wellspan York Hospital in York, PA. She was the wife of David A. Hand, whom she married 53 years ago on August 5, 1972.

Frances was born August 18, 1946, in Shamokin, PA and was the daughter of the late Richard and C. Louise (Reed) Shade.

She graduated in 1964 from Shamokin High School in Shamokin, PA. She was employed by Fincor in York, PA as a manager and was the co-owner of the former Old Square in Bed and Breakfast in Mount Joy, PA. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamokin and St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Wolf, PA.

In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her daughter, Dawn McWilliams and her companion, Scott of Manchester, PA; her son, David J. Hand and his wife Danielle of Cleona, PA; her grandson, Cooper and her sister, Cynthia Cone of Hobe Sound, FL.

Her memorial service will begin at 11:30 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. Her burial will be private. Officiating at her service will be Reverend
