Frances Shevchik Holappa

Frances Shevchik Holappa (née Linko), of Barrington, was born October 4, 1938, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to John and Josephine (née Chvala) Linko, and passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Barrington, Illinois.

Frances lived a long and full life surrounded by family and friends. She devoted many years to caring for others as a nurse at Wauconda Health Care Center. She loved traveling and exploring the world and found the perfect travel partner in her husband, Richard M. Holappa.

She is survived by her husband Richard; children, Charles William Shevchik, Michael (Erika) Shevchik, Tracy Zerfahs, and Christopher (Teresa) Shevchik; her stepchildren, Donna (Mark) Johnson and Loralee (Steve) Lenz; her grandchildren, Tanya (Jim), Brian, Jack (Lydia), and Kate; and her great-grandchildren, Carsyn and Mila. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Brennan-Halamandaris, and many nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Linko.

Frances will be remembered for her caring heart, her love of family, and the joy she found in sharing life's adventures with those she loved.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kisselburg–Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL. On Tuesday, funeral services will begin with prayers at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 348 W. Mill St., Wauconda, IL. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, Illinois.
