Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Gadsden Funeral Home from Nov. 20 to Nov. 21, 2025.
Frances Lueva Mack, affectionately known as Momma, Grandmomma, "Mack" and Mrs.
Frances, was born to the late Warren and Nettie Walker Porter on March 27 th , 1941, in
Anniston (Central City), Al.
She confessed Christ at an early age. Throughout her life she faithfully served at Mt.
Olive Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (Attalla) and Mt. Zion Baptist Church
(Turkeytown) until her health declined.
Frances was educated in the Attalla City School System, graduating from Norris High
School in 1959. At this time, she met and married the love of her life, Bobby "Jimmy"
Mack. To this union, four children were born. Her first place of employment was at
General Times in Gadsden, Ala. The family relocated to Chicago, Ill., where she was
gainfully employed with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. When the family returned to Gadsden,
she received training from the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) in
1975. After receiving training through the program, she became the first African
American female to be employed in the computer department at Gadsden State
Community College. In May of 2006, after 31-years of faithful service, she retired from
Gadsden State Community College.
Frances loved singing in the church choir, traveling with and cooking for her family. Her
love was felt through her sweet potato pies, turkey and dressing, and coveted potato
salad that everyone enjoyed. Her love of Christ radiated through her words of wisdom,
acts of service and dedication to her family. Some may say that she was, "A no
nonsense woman, who often told you just the way she felt." Always devoted to her
family and friends, she gave love and received love from everyone she encountered.
Her 84 years of life created a family tree filled with many branches of her legacy to live
on forever.
Preceding Frances in death was her loving parents Warren and Nettie Porter, brother
Willie Porter, son Alan Gerard Mack, and sister Ruby Blount.
God saw she was getting weary, so he did what was best, and on November 19 th , she
entered into eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her loving husband of 66 years Bobby
