Frances M. McNellis age 78, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Fran McNellis on February 4, 2025. Born and raised on Long Island, NY, Fran relocated to the Atlantic City area after marrying her beloved husband, Don McNellis. Together, they built a life filled with love, passion, and community involvement. For many years, Fran volunteered as a hostess for the prestigious Miss America pageant, contributing to the pageant's legacy and charm. In addition to her work with the pageant, she was an active member of The Charity League of Atlantic County, where her creative spirit helped design and bring to life the League's iconic Christmas Pin, a symbol of charity and goodwill that has touched the hearts of many. Her career extended beyond the world of pageants and charity. As campaign manager for Senator William L. Gormley's gubernatorial campaign, she played an integral role in shaping the political landscape of New Jersey. Her commitment to public service was further evident in her long tenure as the Office Administrator for the Law Firm of Hankin, Sandman, Palladino, Weintrob and Bell where she dedicated 36 years of exceptional service. Later in life, Fran became the proud owner of Francesca's Flowers in Egg Harbor Township, where her love for floral design and community service flourished. Her shop was known not only for its beautiful arrangements but also for the warmth and kindness that she extended to every customer. Throughout her life, Fran demonstrated unwavering dedication to her family, community, and career. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be remembered for her incredible work ethic, generosity, and deep care for others. Fran is predeceased by her devoted husband, Don McNellis. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Devlin (Kevin) and Don McNellis (Laura); grandchildren, Ryleigh Devlin, Liam Devlin, Teagan McNellis and Finnegan McNellis; along with brothers; sisters; and many nieces; and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A Celebration of Fran's Life will be held at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home,1707 New Rd, Linwood, NJ 08221 on Wednesday, February 12. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with an 11a.m. Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Don and Fran McNellis to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
