Frances Holloman Mims

Frances Holloman Mims, 76, wife of Joseph E. Mims, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born December 12, 1949, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Freddie R. Holloman and the late Evelyn Ola Smith Holloman. Mrs. Mims was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She retired from Sumter School District #17.

Survivors in addition to her husband include one daughter, Allison Lawson (Justin), five grandchildren, Alison Drown (Dylan), Bethany Hernandez, Joey Mims (Montgomery), Rachel Fincher (Nathan), and Chase Taylor; three great grandchildren, Luana Hernandez, Ellie Hernandez, and Charlotte Drown; one brother, Glen Holloman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael E. Mims and Joseph E. Mims, Jr; a brother, Fred Holloman; and two sisters, Grace Serman and Bernice Felder.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Crosswell Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Charles Owens and the Rev. Dr. James Chandler. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Bishopville.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Honoraray pallbearers will be members of the Seekers Sunday School Class of Crosswell Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Crosswell Baptist Church and other times at the home.
