Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Jan. 16, 2026.
Frances Janetta Powell, age 67, passed away at her home in Tolar, Texas on January 12, 2026. She was born on April 4, 1958.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Powell.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Danielle, Katty, Ashleigh, and Keren; her four granddaughters, Kortney, Alexis, Caylee, and Taylor; her three grandsons, Jakob, Caleb, and Rylan; and one great-grandson. She is also survived by her sister Linda and her husband Kevin; her uncle Earnie and his wife Leslie; as well as three nieces and their families.
Frances spent many years working as a florist, a career that reflected her creativity and appreciation for beauty. She later worked at the Dollar General in Tolar, Texas, where she became a cherished presence in the community. Customers and coworkers alike were drawn to her warmth, kindness, and genuine care for others. Her bright spirit earned her the affectionate nickname "Sunshine Fran."
Outside of work, Frances found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved searching for seashells and shark teeth at the beach on her visits to Florida, and she had a deep appreciation for stained glass art. Her favorite tv shows were ER and Dr. Phil. Her favorite musicians were Carol King, Tracy Chapman, and The California Raisins.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends,

I will always be so touched by Fran´s kindness and warmth towards others. She came to my rescue back in 1984-ish. She certainly was a great friend that I truly loved and held in my heart all these years. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God bless you and guide you through this sad time.
