Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Frances R. Sanchez, 88, of Roswell who passed away October 18, 2024 at her home. Equipping Pastor Barry Anderson will conduct the services. The burial will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery at a later date due to the recent extreme rainfall in Roswell.
Frances was born June 16, 1936, in Roswell NM to Joe and Susie Robinson. They proceeded her in death. Frances married Benjamin Sanchez, May 5, 1961, who proceeded her in death March 23, 2018. Frances was a lifelong Roswell resident who retired from (SPS) Xcel Energy after 25 plus years.
After both Ben and Frances retired, they moved to their beloved Ruidoso loving and enjoying their retirement there for 17 years before moving back to Roswell in 2016 to be closer to their daughter and son-n-law. They purchased a home across the street from their daughter Janet Libby (George). Frances LOVED her home and always enjoyed bragging on her son-n-laws craftsmanship of her beautifully remodeled home. While visiting in Ruidoso one day long ago, Frances introduced her son-n-law and daughter to an old neighbor as "George and his wife"...an introduction that we all (including Frances) would laugh about.
When Ben passed away, Frances adopted Chico and Gabby from the Roswell Humane Society who were her wonderful companions and were very protective of her. Frances loved to read and was a frequent visitor to the Roswell Public Library. She loved watching old westerns on the "True Grit" channel on her television along with many of the First Responder shows with an apple fritter in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other to start her day. Frances was an elegant lady who never left home without her hair fixed and her clip-on earrings.
Frances is survived by her daughter Janet Libby and husband George of Roswell NM; sister Isabel Passmore of Roswell NM; brother Victor Robinson of Roswell NM along with many beloved nieces, nephews and loving, supportive friends.
Janet and George would like to thank the following people who helped them through the last week of Frances life. All were so caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Comfort Keepers — Laurie, Sylvia, Cynthia, Amira and Manualla. Gentiva Hospice — Mike, Melissa and Takiesha who along with Comfort Keepers, made this short journey so much better for Frances and our family. A very special thank you to our oldest, dearest Friend/Family, Dee Dyess, who stayed overnight with Janet on Day 1 assisting her to care for Frances.
