Mrs. Mary Frances (York) Umbehant, age 86, of Cornelia, GA, died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at her home.
Born September 23, 1925, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late Joe York and Lillie (Waldon) McDonald. She retired from Yonah Realty Manufacturing Company as a seamstress. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Umbehant was a member of the Bridge Family Worship Church of Cornelia. She enjoyed attending prayer meetings and was a dependable prayer partner for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband: Everett Umbehant; granddaughter: Dasha Parson; sisters: Minnie Payne & Dot Umberhant; brothers: Joe York & J. D. York.
She is survived by her children: David Umbehant & Margaret of Demorest, Eddie Umbehant & Pam of Mt. Airy, Gale Umbehant of Bowman, Ricky Umbehant & Hazel of Cornelia, Mickey Umbehant & Teresa of Cornelia, and Dale Davidson & Ricky of Alto; grandchildren: Alison & Donald Singer, Monica & Jason Welborn, Matt & Lori Umbehant, Danielle & Sam Scott, Jeremy & Alecia Edge, William Umbehant, Christy Umbehant, Christopher Umbehant, Kellah & Anthony Watkins, Clint & Tonya Umbehant, Courtney & Natalie Umbehant, Kris Davidson, Trisha & Joey Gilmer, and Leah & Corey Williams; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters: Lessie Flanagan, Betty Gulledge, Margie Rabb, Hilda Mewborn, & Linda Ledford; brothers: Larry York & Lloyd York; and a host of nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Bridge Family Worship Church (2696 J. Warren Road, Cornelia, GA 30531) with Rev. Bobby Hattaway, Rev. Mickey Umbehant, Rev. Courtney Umbehant, and Rev. Eddie Umbehant officiating. Burial will follow in Community Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
The family will receive friends at the Bridge Family Worship Church Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Bridge Family Worship Church P.O. Box 822 Cornelia, GA 30531.
