Frances Elaine Unglesbee, a cherished soul known affectionately as Frances or GMom to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on July 16, 1941, in Maryland, Frances's life was one marked by devotion to her family, a passion for the simple pleasures in life, and a career that reflected her dedication and work ethic.
Frances's journey began as the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude White (nee Hooper). Her path in life led her to the love of her life, Gary Unglesbee, to whom she was a devoted wife for 63 years. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, and together they raised a family that became Frances's pride and joy. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Susan (Mark) Wibbens and Jennifer (Christophe) Mion, and a doting grandmother to Sophie, who brought immense happiness and light into her life. Cherished sister of James White.
Her family extended beyond her immediate kin, as she was a devoted aunt to her nephews, Michael and Gregory White, and their many children. Frances' home was always filled with the joyful chaos of many grand-dogs and grand-kitties, each of whom she loved as her own.
Frances' professional life was marked by a 20-year tenure as a clerk for the FBI, where she was respected for her diligence and commitment. Her work was not just a job but a part of who she was, and the relationships she built during her career lasted well into her retirement.
She was an avid reader, always with a book in hand, and her love for Maryland's culinary delights was well-known, particularly her fondness for steamed crabs and crab soup. Frances was also an enthusiastic bird watcher, with a special affection for hummingbirds, which she would watch for hours in her garden.
Traveling was another of Frances' passions, with the beach and ocean holding a special place in her heart. She relished the feeling of the sand between her toes and the sound of the waves, which brought her immense peace and joy.
Frances's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless memories she created with her family and friends. She is survived by a community of great nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her warmth, her smile, and her generous spirit. Frances Elaine Unglesbee's life was a beautiful tapestry of moments that touched many, and she will be remembered with love and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
