Frances Evelyn Vortman, 98, of Bluffs passed away Sunday, Oct.12, 2025, at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Exeter, the daughter of Carl and Rena Werries Stegemann. She married Norman A. Vortman, Nov. 23, 1947, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Neeleyville.
Surviving are sons, Glenn (Vey) Vortman, Mark (Rhoda) Vortman all of Bluffs and Eric Vortman of Winchester; grandchildren Beth (David) Hutton, Adam (Miranda) Vortman all of Bluffs, Matt (Chrissy) Vortman and Hannah Vortman all of Springfield, Rebecca Vortman of Franklin, Andrew (Jenna)Vortman and Denny (Amanda) Vortman all of Winchester; great grandchildren, Dalton and Cole Hutton, Madelynne Vortman, Blaine Vortman, William Vortman, Knox Vortman, Aiden Vortman, Blake Vortman, Connor Vortman, Emma Vortman and Anna Vortman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Doris (deceased husband, Stan) Rich, Wanda (deceased husband, Gordon) Miller; and great granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Vortman.
Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was an active member of the Altar Guild and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, quilting and sewing clothes for her granddaughters. She loved attending ball games and cheering on her kids and grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the Trinity Cemetery near Neeleyville. Memorial suggestion to Scott County Nursing Center or Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund. Condolences may be left at www.mackeydawsfuneralhome.com
