Francesca Cantave

Francesca Cantave, 91, a resident of Brockton, died peacefully at Signature Brockton Hospital on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Daughter of the late Edgar Cantave and Ersule Dubuisson. She was born and raised in Mirebalais, Haiti. Francesca resided in Brockton for the past 10 years. She was a Madan Sara “A business woman who travels throughout the Island to buy and sell fabrics and goods, etc.” As a Madan Sara, Francesca was a vital part of Haiti’s economy and is considered a fundamental pillar of the country. Francesca was a longtime member of La Sainte Famille Church Group in Mirebalais. Not only was she a full-time worker, but she also lived for God and set aside Sunday for rest. Francesca loved praying and enjoyed attending church as well as singing events. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends after church, and feeding the destitute.

Francesca is survived by her children, Flores Jean and her husband Franck of Grayson, GA, Marie Michele Jean-Blanc and her husband Ducarmel Jean of Brockton, Salnave Blanc “Baby Francess” of Vienna, WV, Steve Blanc “Frantz” (A stepson that Francesca adored), Jesula Blanc-Cantave of Brockton and Marie Carmel Blanc of Brockton as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Wilbert Cantave and Indiana Cantave both of Haiti and was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Francesca is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 1 from 8:30-10:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, 87 North Main St., Avon at 11 AM. Interment will be private. 

Repass will follow at Sunrise Steakhouse, 587 Centre Street, Brockton, MA 02302 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM
