Francine Altman Obituary

Born June 24, 1950, she was the beloved daughter of the late Helen and Ted Klebanoff. She was the loving mother of Lauren (Michael) Herron and Jonathan (Nicole) Altman, and the adoring grandmother of Stark Altman.
Francine had a vibrant spirit and generous heart. A talented needlepointer, avid reader, and devoted member of her book club, she was also a passionate bridge player who loved good conversation and friendly competition. A loyal, if perpetually disappointed, Pittsburgh Pirates fan, Francine proved that true dedication can outlast even the longest rebuilding seasons.
She worked for Matthews Bus Company and volunteered often at her daughter's school, where her warmth and humor brightened many days. She also helped open the South Hills Barnes & Noble, where she worked for over a decade, making lifelong friends and joyfully recommending books, her favorite being Once We Were Brothers.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, November 3rd, from 4–8 p.m. at the Liberty Pointe Clubhouse, 35 Highland Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15102.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Pittsburgh Animal Friends or the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
