Barry was one of the rocks of Legg Mason. No chalk, hard working, extremely friendly, and perhaps the funniest person in the firm. His limericks at Fetting's St. Paddy's day luncheon were classic. Just a great human being. Huge dedication to the Boy Scouts and a very good sailor. Condolences to his family.

I met Barry in 1976 when I joined Troop 133. He was my scoutmaster from 1977-1979 and he mentored me as a young leader, especially in training and leading others. When I turned 21, he administered the scoutmaster oath to me. His impact on me personally and professionally was profound, sometimes like a second dad, other times like an
older brother. I will miss his humor. His stewardship of scouting, especially at Broad Creek, will benefit generations of scouts. Rest in peace, Mr. B!

Barry was a very special leader at Legg Mason and was widely respected for his financial acumen across all facets of the firm as it diversified. His wit was truly applied in equal opportunity mode, no one spared including CEO´s.
I am very sad to hear of his passing and send love to all his family and friends.
