Francis J. Dobson Jr.

Francis "Frank" J. Dobson Jr., 67, passed away Sunday, November 9th, 2025 at Kent Hospital in Warwick. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Dorothy G. (Goddard) Dobson Sr.. Frank was the beloved father of Francis J. Dobson III; loving Papa of Brandon and Olivia and their mother Holly, wife of Francis; loving companion of Roberta "Robbie" Gremour; Cherished brother of Margaret M. Guidry the wife of the late Burness Guidry and Maryann Cole the wife of Robert Horton. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Frank enjoyed the sea on powerboats as well as sailboats, motorcycle rides, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed a game of pool and even ran a league at the American Legion. He played a good game of cribbage which he had learned from his dad.
Frank was funny and had a charming wit about him, in his final days at Kent Hospital the staff took time to come to his room to visit and show their concern about his comfort.
He would not hesitate to go out of his way to help people, his skill with tools and mechanical experience came in handy as well as his strong back, to solve many problems for his friends and relatives
Frank graduated from Pilgrim High School in Warwick, Rhode Island.
He worked as a commercial offshore fisherman for many years, a hard and dangerous profession. When he was ready for a career change, he stayed close to the water as the owner and operator of South Shore Marine Canvas & Awnings. The quality of his work for both commercial and recreational customers earned him accolades and many repeat customers.
His visitation will be held Sunday, November 16th, 2025 from 2-5pm followed by a service at 5pm in the The Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick.
