Francis Eames Obituary

Francis Frederick Eames
Born: April 2, 1936 in Harvard, IL
Died: December 1, 2025 in Harvard, IL
Francis Frederick Eames, 89, a lifelong resident of Harvard, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Born on April 2, 1936, in Harvard, Illinois, Francis was the son of Joseph "Don" Donald Eames and Esther Marie (Blank) Eames. Francis graduated high school before beginning a long and devoted career as a heavy machine operator in Chicago. He was a proud lifetime member of the Local 150 Operating Engineers Union and a past member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.
Francis honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, spending two years stationed in Korea.
On February 7, 1970, he married Judith Lynne Pulver at Trinity Lutheran Church, and together they shared a loving life for more than five decades. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, taking cruises, and loved playing cards.
In the early 2000's, Fran and Judy began spending their winters in Estero, Florida, where they made many new friends among fellow snowbirds from the Midwest. In retirement, Fran devoted himself to the joys of family life, cherishing every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will remember his love of Legos, Disney movies and the mall on Black Friday, as well as his sly, often subtle sense of humor - a gentle wit that revealed the passionate and hard working spirit behind his steady nature.
A devoted husband and father, and a loving grandfather who was always up for an adventure when they were together. He could be found playing endless games of Trouble or on a roller coaster. Fran's presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His grandchildren are heart broken, however, thankful for the memories.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith; his children Gene (Mariella) Eames and Cindy (Jack) Hurley; his grandchildren Stefano Corbosiero, Giuliana (Joseph) Braunworth, Daniela (Tyler) St. John, and Sophia Eames; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph "Don" Donald Eames and Esther Marie (Blank) Eames; his brother, Robert Eames; and his sister, Janice Ellwanger.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner Street, Harvard, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice, 9951 Rock Cut Crossing, Loves Park, IL 61111 or to the donor's favorite charity.
