On Thursday, June 27, 2013 of Laurel, Maryland. Frank and Pat were the beloved parents of Kathy Stinus and Joe Stinus, loving grandparents of Justin Stinus, Jaclin Stinus, Eli Stinus Fredenburg and Drew Stinus Fredenburg. Frank is also survived by his sister Gerry Reilly and his brother Vincent Stinus. Pat is also survived by her sisters Betty Fox and Becky Greenwalt. Pat and Frank loved to travel and sail. They took many sailing trip with work associates to the Virgin Islands, Greek Islands and of course the Chesapeake Bay. They both also enjoyed joining tour groups that did nature ventures to such locations as the Sea of Cortez to whale watch, Alaskan Windward Passage, Trans-Canadian Railroad, Australia and New Zealand. Pat and Frank always looked forward to their annual pilgrimage to the Eastern Shore to watch birds, walk the beach and eat crabs. Pat had an early interest in helping people that was fostered by working for the first woman doctor in Robinson, Illinois. Later she applied that passion to volunteer work and fundraising at the Laurel Regional Hospital. Using her people skills, business acumen and organizational talent, she managed a number of rental properties in Laurel and Washington, DC. Pat is remembered as a devoted wife and mother. She loved birds and dogs and never missed the Westminster Dog Show. Frank had a mind for math and puzzles which shaped his long career as a Cold War cryptologist and communications systems developer. His unique work experiences afforded trips around the world; Asia, the Middle East, Australia, Cuba (pre Castro) and 7 years in Germany. His last overseas trip was to the Galapagos Islands with his daughter to observe the wildlife. Frank enjoyed his wooded backyard where he honed his bird identification skills and never met a bird he didn't like, but squirrels were a different thing. The grandkids will always remember the visits spent working puzzles, relaxing in the backyard watching birds, enjoying the excellent cooking, and the importance of planning for the future, setting goals and spending time with family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Laurel Presbyterian Church, 7610 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707 beginning at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made in their names to the Laurel Presbyterian Church at the above address.
