Francis Springob Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the Springob Family announce that on Monday, December 11, 2023, Francis "Frank" Springob, passed away unexpectedly at home with his beloved wife of 53 years Helen Springob at his side.
Frank was a dear, kind man with vast knowledge and a quiet strength. He lived valiantly and loved deeply. He proudly served the City of Greenfield for the entirety of his adult life, starting as a police clerk, working through the ranks until he served as Chief of Police. During his watch, he was an extremely accomplished chief, operating in leadership for the Milwaukee County Law Enforcement Executives Association, the Wisconsin Police Chiefs Association, and on boards for the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He was also on the original board of directors for the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial and was very passionate about the creation of its monument in Madison. He also served as a Military Police Officer in the famed 32nd Division of the Wisconsin National Guard (the Red Arrow Brigade) during the Vietnam Era and the 1967 Milwaukee Civil Disorder. Furthermore, he was awarded the highest regard of Kentucky Colonel. After 46 1/2 years of dedicated service to his community, Frank retired from the Greenfield Police Department, never forgetting nor forsaking the City he called home.
Even in retirement, Frank's employ to those in need did not end. He generously volunteered as his grandson's Cub Scout leader. His expertise, altruism, goodwill, and commitment made him an invaluable and venerable member of Pack 38. During that time, he was also appointed to the Greenfield Police and Fire Commission, continuing to give himself to the police department that he loved and devoted much of his life to. His position on the board was a great honor that he graciously held until his last day.
Frank's dutiful heart and ardor for the safety and well-being of the community was second only to the deep gratitude, devotion, and unwavering support he had for his cherished family. He unconditionally adored every one of them and revelled in the times they spent together.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Helen Springob (Rifelj), caring sons Scott (Angela Birk) Springob and Steve (Laura Kowalske) Springob, doting grandchildren Daniel (Abby Connor) Springob, Robert Springob, Luka Zadrima, Sam Springob, and Riley Springob, precious great-grandchildren Raymond Springob, Oliver Springob, and Bernadette Springob, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws that he considered siblings, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.
To truly know Frank was to love and appreciate him; he will be greatly remembered and so profoundly missed.
May he sleep in heavenly peace.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18th from 2Pm-6PM, with a prayer service at 6:30PM at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home - Greenridge Chapel (4747 S. 60th Street, Greenfield, WI. 53220).
Further visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 19th, from 10AM with a noon Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (3722 S. 58th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53220). Private burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any charitable donations be made to the Concerns of Police Survivors: Wisconsin Chapter ( https://www.wicops.org ) in honor and remembrance of Frank Springob's life.
