Hello Mrs Bourdier,
I worked at 130 Liberty and I didn´t know your husbands name until last year when I found his photo at the 9/11 museum. I remembered his face when I saw it in the wall. I remembered his smile and how kind he was.
My heart goes out to you and your family. He was a hero and will never be forgotten by the hundreds of people that saw him everyday at 130 Liberty. God bless you.

One of my 8th grade students wrote about Francisco as part of an assignment to interview an adult who vividly remembered September 11. My students were born in 2001, and I want them to know about this important day in U.S. History, as most of them weren't even born on that day. I came to this site and read about his heroics. I want to thank him here for his devotion to the safety of others. God bless his wife and daughter, and God bless Francisco.

To The Family,
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Francisco Bourdier. However, after reading the obituary one could clearly see that he was a devoted family man. Sad to say but many fathers today do not want to be " stuck " with babysitting, even if the child is their own. Therefore, Mr. Bourdier had to be admired for the quality time that he spent with his young daughter. I hope that The Almighty has and will continue to bring you genuine comfort. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you.

Sincerely,
Mr. Terry of NC

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Mrs. Bourdier,

I worked for Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank for about 11 years, I remember Francisco very clearly, he would be the face that would greet us first thing in the morning. He was very serious about his job and did it well. The last time I saw him I think was a couple of weeks before 9/11 and I distinctly remember him and his little girl. I pray for you and your family and am deeply sorry for your loss. God bless you and your daughter.

Dear Mrs Bourdier,

Though I never knew your husband's name, I knew his smile and gentle manner as he greeted me and hundreds of other DB employees each day on their way to work. I am so sorry for your loss. Your husband was a hero, who gave his life to protect others. We miss him.

Dear Mrs. Bourdier,

I worked at 130 Liberty and was there on that fateful day. I was very saddened to hear of your loss. Your husband took pride in his job and was very serious when it came to the safety of DB employees. On numerous occasions I would rush out of the building to pick up lunch and would realize once I returned that I left my ID card upstairs. When I wanted to bypass the rules, he would tell me that he was trying to do his job. I would then reluctantly go to security to verify that I was an employee. We can only wonder if the attacks would have occurred if others that were entrusted with the saftey of the nation would have taken their jobs just as seriously.

I'm confident that, because of his strong commitment to his position, he sacrificed himself to save others. I know it is not easy but you can be proud that the man you married was not just your hero but was a hero to hundreds on Sept. 11th. This is some legacy that you will have to share with your daughter when she becomes old enough to understand.

May God continue to bless and comfort you. I will continue to keep your family in my prayers.

To the Bourdier Family,

Francisco was one of the few guards at 130 Liberty St. who always had a quick smile or a nod of his head, for everyone that passed him. Although he was very quiet and reserved, you could tell he was kind. He is truly missed by those of us from the 130 Liberty St. building. He will always remain a hero in my eyes. May God bless your family and may we always hold a piece of Francisco in our hearts.

Dear Mrs. Bourdier:

I am so sorry for your loss. As a former DB employee, I knew your husband to be a kind and modest man. He always gave a smile to those who spoke to him. I knew him through our daily greetings and small talk. I know your husband stayed to save other and for that he is truly a hero. Take comfort knowing he is at peace. You and your daughter are in my prayers.

With warm regards,

I am a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh. This morning, September 11, 2002, my school held a memorial service for those who lost their lives one year ago today. After the service, those of us who remained were invited to place a flag on the lawn behind our Cathedral of Learning. Each flag had a name on it of a man or woman who was killed in the attacks-a total of 3,041. The name on my flag was Francisco Bourdier, 41, a security guard at Deutsche Bank, next to 2 World Trade Center. I would just like to offer my prayers and sympathy to his family and anyone who knew him, and to all those who lost someone a year ago today. I cannot imagine your grief and loss, but my heart goes out to you.

We are deeply sorry for your loss of Francisco. May his life and love continue living in you. May the deep sorrow you feel be lightened by warm memories of times shared with Francisco. Our hearts cry with you.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
