As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. When my mom died I found it soothing to reflect on her God given gifts . Treasure these memories.

The first time I met Francoise Gilot was with my mother in 1973 at a lunch and lecture series held by the San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park. My mother and I were members. Francoise's daughter Paloma was with her (this was prior to Paloma's fame designing for Tiffany's). The second time I met Francoise was a few years later as a student at San Diego State University. I took an art class as an elective and Francoise was a guest lecturer. On one occasion she read her poetry to us, another time she explained the use of color and color schemes. It was more a discussion with her than a lecture as it was a small group of students. We sat in a circle listened to her, watched her and asked questions. No one asked questions about Picasso. I was inspired by this creative and elegant lady who was successful with her own work while raising children and maintaining a relationship. Most women I knew at that time had to make choices, one or the other. A very nice memory. May she rest in peace.

Dear Francois, I wished I would have known you and all of your talents in painting, writing and just friendship. It must have been interesting to be with Picasso and his muse. God bless you and your family. Marcia Mally, an ardent admirer in Chicago, a pianist and teacher for 55 years to many students and still teaching at 84.
