Frank Asencio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Omps Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Amherst Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
Frank Asencio, 89 of Stephens City, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at The Warren in Woodstock.

Frank was born in 1936 in Puerto Rico, the son of the late Indalecio and Genoveva Asencio. He was a graduate of Jamaica High School in New York. He retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 2287 in New York City, an organization he joined when he was 18. A Boy Scout Master and master woodworker, Frank built all types of furniture and delighted in creating intricate dollhouses for his grandchildren and beautiful birdhouses that graced his garden. His skilled hands and generous heart were evident in every piece he crafted.

Frank loved regaling family and friends with stories from his years as a carpenter in New York, bringing those memories to life with vivid detail and humor. He enjoyed gardening, was a Trekkie, and never missed an opportunity to play with his beloved grand dogs, who brought him endless joy.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, whom he married on October 7, 1961; daughters, Karen Gauharou (Ken) and Kristine Hickey (Tom); son, David Asencio (Katie); grandchildren, Tyler Gauharou, Lindsey Selden (Gunnar), Cait Hickey, Ezrah Hickey, Sydney Asencio, Matthew Asencio, and Sam Asencio; and great-grandchildren, Kirk, and Marley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11am. Entombment will be private in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A Celebration of Frank's Life will be at a later date.
