Last to learn, and crushed by news of the passing of my father´s partner at the Milwaukee Journal DC bureau for decades.
Frank was a wonderful man full of joy and great stories and remarkably said he´d never exchanged any cross words with my Dad. Happy to have so many memories of him, most recently after his 90th birthday party, he was like the favorite mayor ever greeting well-wishers. Huge loss for his wonderful family and so many communities of friends; but his humor and joyful spirit lives on in our memories.

To the Aukofer family: I was so saddened to hear of Frank's passing. As a fellow autojournalist, we traveled the world, from Scotland, San Tropez, the UK and Austria, we drove big expensive cars, as well as a few cheapies. Along the way, he taught me the finer points of whiskies, whiskeys and whiskys, and even a few single malts. It was always great to catch up on our families, as well as the latest in politics. I will miss him and his amazing stories. Rest in peace, Frank.

Frank was one of the nicest people I ever met and one hell of a mentor to those of us lucky to have worked for him. Eileen Alt Powell
