Frank Boos Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2006.
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Frank Boos, the bow-tied appraiser on the PBS program ''Antiques Roadshow,'' has died. He was 70.

Boos died Tuesday at his home from complications from vascular disease, his son Jonathan said.

Boos, an original member of the show's cast, appraised thousands of mainly silver antiques as the show toured American cities for the past decade.

Marsha Bemko, executive producer of the show, said that in some cities, Boos would appraise hundreds of objects, many of them of little value, but still would make people feel good about their antiques. She said Boos loved sharing his years of knowledge, telling people the origin and age of their items.

He also ran an auctioneer, appraisal and gallery business in Troy for more than 37 years.

I have watched the 'Road Show', it seems forever now. I always lived the presentors who talked with the people about their wares, finds, and treasures.
I particularly loved Frank Boos...for more than one reason.
Mainly, I wondered if he is/was he related to an old classmate of mine from 30th Street in Berwyn, Illinois.
Even so, I just enjoyed his we are, and presentations.

Well, its 13 years on now. You are still missed, Frank!! I thought that your health was failing the last couple of times that I saw you. That made me sad. Sad for you. I noted your absence and I wondered. I am now 2 years younger than you when you passed. I wonder how I appear to others. I enjoyed your appraisals. Your kindness and enthusiasm were very apparent!! I am dismayed by the small number of signees. Im sure that you had thousands of fans!! The sentiments were beautiful, though! All my best to you and yours,
