It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Frank “Sonny” Buffone, Jr., 88, of Leicester, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Fyffe) Buffone.
Frank is survived by his loving daughter, Terri Buckley of Leicester; his adored grandchildren, Leon Buckley Jr and Jesse Buckley, 2 great grandchildren, Kaylee and Brandon Buckley of Leicester; his cherished siblings, James, Rosemarie, Barbara and Nancy. In addition to his dear parents and his beloved wife, Frank was predeceased by his sister Dorothy, brothers Joseph and Peter. He was close to numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Frank (Sonny) met a wonderful companion and girlfriend Barbara Germain. She was key in his care over the past year. Their interests kept them together until the end.
Born in Worcester, on September 30, 1936, Frank was the first child born to Frank and Louise (Corda) Buffone.
Frank proudly served in the army stationed in Germany for 2 years (1955 to 1957). Frank was passionate about vacationing at Old Orchard Beach, ME., a lifelong member of the Leicester Lions Club, music and ballroom dancing at the Senior Center. His biggest passion was talking and socializing with people.
Though Frank is no longer with us and we will forever miss him, we will carry him with us in all that we do. His caring heart and selfless soul are forever ingrained into the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Calling hours will be held for Frank on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Frank will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Mercy meal following the cemetery is 2:30 to 4:30 at Barber’s Crossing, Sterling.
