Frank Butler, 97, of Lee County, died Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at his home.

His funeral service will be Saturday, November 2nd, 11am at Mathews Funeral Home with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens. Pastor Gerry Dorry will officiate.

Born in Hartsfield, GA, Mr. Butler spent most of his life in the Albany area. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps towards the end of World War II and loved to share stories about his time in China.

After the war he went to work with Coats and Clark where he worked until his retirement. After retirement, he never slowed down. Always looking for his next project, he loved to make treasures out of wood and give them to his loved ones. If he saw something that intrigued him, he would figure out a way to build it. He loved working outdoors and tending to his beautiful flowers. He was a faithful, charter member at Mercedes Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. At 92, he was still mowing the lawn at the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Carolyn Alderman Butler, parents, Edgebert and Ida Mae Lee Butler, children, Kenneth Butler, Linda Butler Price, Marie Jasper.

Survivors include his children, David Butler (Barbara), Irvin Butler (Carol), Nancy Lamb Butler, Danny Butler (Kari), 17 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren and his sister Inez Knight.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
