Frank Calvin Byrd Jr., 73, of Canton, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, Frank was born to the late Frank Calvin Byrd and Jessie Proffitt Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Byrd and a sister, Carolyn Inman.

Frank was a beloved member of the community, known for his presence and voice on the local radio for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he worked at numerous radio stations across Haywood, Jackson, and Buncombe counties. A passionate radio host, Frank shared his love for music and connected with listeners.

Outside of broadcasting, Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife, Cathy, attending concerts, and exploring flea markets. He had a deep appreciation for many styles of music and cherished the time he spent with friends and family. His compassionate nature and kind spirit touched the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy Byrd; his brother, Jim Byrd; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service.
