Waltham – Mr. Frank J. Casella, of Waltham, died Sunday, July 29, 2018 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 74. Frank was born in Waltham on January 11, 1944, a son of the late Luigi and Carmella (Repisardi) Casella, and had been a lifelong resident. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1962 and earned his bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in Boston. He went to work for the Raytheon Company right out of high school, first at their Lowell plant where he spent thirty-one years and for the next ten years worked as a logistics engineer in Andover. Frank also belonged to Raytheon's golf league. Frank was meticulous about caring for his home and yard. He loved summers spent with his beloved grandchildren around the pool and at the table. For the past sixteen years he and his wife, Louise, enjoyed winters in West Palm Beach, Florida. He leaves his wife of fifty-two years, Louise K. (Barca) Casella; his daughters, Christine A. Casella and Kimberly S. Casella both of Waltham; his grandchildren, Thomas, Nicole, Amanda, Jennifer and Anthony Shortt and many nieces and nephews. Frank was a brother of the late Louis Casella, Mary Lucas, Joseph Casella, Ida Welch, James Casella, Angelina McLellan, Salvatore Casella, Rose Palumbo and Carmelo "Cam" Casella. Family and friends will honor and remember Frank's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, August 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Frank was a classmate in Junior High. I can recall Frank as if it was just today that I saw him. He was a boy then. He stood out in a crowd/ There was just that something about Frank that made him approachable and quite friendly. My sincerest condolences to all those that will surely miss him.

Dearest Louise & Family:
God Bless you in this difficult time. Just a short two weeks ago I complemented Frank on how good he looked and was so optimistic about his recovery then a short time later we were heart broken to hear about his decline. You have been the most wonderful neighbors and friends with no equals. Although I have no words to ease your grief our love, thoughts and sympathy are with you and will last forever. We will miss being with you but please feel our loving hugs,
Morrie & Lynn

It's with a very heavy heart that I write this... I grew up with the Casella family, a second home to me and my brother. The memories will stay close to our hearts. Remembering all the times we would eat dinner over and at the end of dinner frank would lay on the dining room floor and read the paper drinking his milk lol. ( as a kid, I never understood that glass of milk ) but that was his ritual. Every once in a while we would get a ride on his motor cycle up and down Miriam road. Swimming in the pool, family cookouts and just hanging at the Casella house. This all might not seem like much but for me, they are priceless memories of a wonderful man I had the pleasure to grow up with. Rest easy In Peace Frank ❤ And to Louise, Chris, Kim and kids, I hope you can move forward with pride knowing how blessed you are to have had him in your lives.
