Frank R. Collura, 75, a lifelong resident of Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, October 4, 2025 at his cottage in Newton Lake, PA. He is survived by his wife, Maureen A. (Battle) Collura. They recently celebrated their 28th anniversary.
Born June 18, 1950 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Richard and Vita (Guarneri) Collura.
His younger years were spent as a heavy equipment operator and he was especially proud of retiring from the U.S. Army with 20 years of both active and National Guard service. Later, he was employed as a corrections officer for the department of corrections at SCI-Waymart.
He was a friend and confidant to his very many friends and family and took an ongoing interest in their lives. He achieved his dream of returning to Newton Lake and buying a cottage having spent much of his childhood there. He was also a gifted pool player and enjoyed playing in competitions. Frank enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. As his sister, Judy, described him, he was the most colorful person she ever met. He lived life to the fullest and will be remembered and deeply missed by all.
He is also survived by a son: Frank Collura (Crystal) of Jessup, PA; a daughter: Janine Collura of Ohio; step-children: Mark Brennan, Ph.D. (Christine) of State College, PA, Christen Pinto and companion, Erik Jones of Vandling, PA, and Stephanie Aldrich of Pittston, PA; one brother: Russell Collura (Carol) of Schenectady, NY; two sisters: Mary Kellogg (Harvey) of Carbondale, PA, and Judy Lepri (Loris) of Mechanicsburg, PA; a sister-in-law: Kathleen Eltz (Henry); grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025 from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA. Interment with military honors will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4-7 p.m.
