Frank Conti

Conti, Frank, a resident of Greenpoint, New York, passed away on November 10, 2023, at the ripe old age of 95. Born on April 18, 1928, to parents who immigrated from Italy, after a brief stay in Milford, Massachusetts, Frank's place of birth, they moved to New York's lower East Side. He was a proud graduate of the Manhattan School of Aviation and even prouder to be a classmate of Whitey Ford, who was on the school's baseball team. He loved to tell the story about the time he asked Whitey to pitch him a ball that he could hit. After 2 strikes, he finally got the hit that he wanted. Frank was a diehard Yankee fan and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the players and the team. But his other passion was acting. As a young boy he was a member of what became known as the Boys Club of New York, where his love for theater gave him plenty of starring roles in their many productions. The friendships he made were for a lifetime and the memories they created from the shows they did together forged an unbreakable bond. Frank worked for 38 years at Montgomery Ward, a pioneering global mail-order business, as a catalogue editor, but what he really loved to talk about was his long-acting career as a movie extra. He took pride in the one movie he did where he also had some dialogue. Although the lines were eventually cut, he was still in the movie and his name remained in the credits. That movie was A Bronx Tale. Some of the other movies he appeared in were New Jack City, Analyze This, The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight, The Seven-Ups, Switch, The Sopranos, Godfather III, and Law & Order. Frank was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a sweet, kind, and happy man who loved telling his jokes to everyone. He was whatever you needed him to be – a friend, a father, a brother, an uncle, a comedian, and even an actor. Frank is survived by his beloved wife Anna of 61 years, and by his many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. The family will receive visitors Saturday, November 18th, 9 am to 10 am at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass Saturday, November 18th, 10:30 am at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Babylon. Cremation Private.
