Frank Dattilo Obituary

Published by John F Givnish Funeral Home - Academy Rd on Sep. 24, 2017.
DATTILO Frank of Philadelphia, on September 24th, 2017 at the age of 72. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Antonietta (nee Lacroce), of 38 years, as well as by his three children, Maria Francesca (Marlo Jackson), Vincent Anthony (Shaina), and Frank Salvatore (Christina). Frank leaves behind an impressive legacy in his two grandchildren, Ava Marie and Gabriel Vincent. Frank was the caring brother of (late) Dominic (Roseanna), (late) Vincent, Siro (Barbara), Catherine Braccia (Richard), and Rosemary Kowalski (Stephen). Frank will always be remembered by his many nieces and nephews from both the Dattilo and Lacroce families: Anthony M. Dattilo (Sharon), Anthony D. Dattilo, Rina Duggan (Daniel), Marie Cannella (Jon), Marian Braccia (Brian Perez), Giovanna Comfort (Andre), Toni Anania (Marissa Ranieri), Silvano Anania (Morena Pochiero), Matteo Anania (Rosanna Lorusso), Alessandro Lacroce, Sara Lacroce, Mary Lacroce (Gino Malasomma), Carmelina Lacroce (Luciano Mariani), who will all dearly miss their Uncle Frank. Frank will also be greatly missed by his brothers-in-law (late) Marziale Lacroce (Santina Bengiovanni), Bruno Lacroce (Antonella Galletta), and his sister-in-law Rosina Lacroce (Francesco Anania). Frank was originally a barber by trade and worked in the St. James Hotel in Philadelphia before he learned the skill and became a butcher. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973. Frank and his brother Siro opened Dattilo's Delicatessen in 1973, located at Rhawn Street and Bustleton Avenue, where it continues to operate as a successful family owned business. Frank took pride in his work, getting to know each customer he met and ensuring they were given only the best. Frank was happiest when he was gathered with his family. He often enjoyed cutting his sons' hair and dancing with his wife and daughter. His sense of humor, charm, generosity, and selfless manner will never be forgotten. Frank had a smile that could light up a room and a heart of gold that we will all cherish forever. Relatives and friends are invited to Frank's Life Celebration visitation on Sunday, October 1st, at the John F. Givnish Life Celebration Home (10975 Academy Road 19154) from 6-9PM. And on Monday, October 2nd, from 10-10:45AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. church (611 Knowles Ave, Southampton 18966) with a funeral mass to follow at 11AM; interment at Lawnview Cemetery. Frank was a shining beacon to all who knew him. I've shopped at D'attilo's since 1979 when I moved to Fox Chase, and Frank and Siro greet everyone with a smile. Frank introduced me to Veal Sausage and told me how to make delicious Bracciole. My heart breaks for the D'attilo Family for the loss of their beloved Frank. My sympathy to Frank's wife, children, grandchildren, Siro, and the entire D'attilo Family. Heaven gained a wonderful Angel to watch over all of you.

From the beginning of Dattilo's 45 years ago, with my brother, Joe Grasso and our mother, Jessie buying all the meats for the Sunday gravy, along with grated locatelli cheese, Italian bread, olives, and all the other goodies the store offered, I was introduced to this amazing experience. Frank, along with his brother, Siro, greeted us by our name. I will always remember Frank for taking time out for a bit of conversation and asking how my brother was upon his having to be in special care. My condolences to Frank's family on the loss of their loved one. May he rest in peace.

Vince and family,
It wasn't until today when I was in the store, that I realized that the notice that I had seen in the newspaper was your father. We want to express our heartfelt condolences to your entire family on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your father. Frank will be remembered in our prayers.

Our deepest condolences to all of you, Frank was a very kind and caring man, this is not something you see often in the world today, let alone in a business. It was a pleasure to go in the store and see his smiling face. John and I are so sorry for your loss, God Speed

Vince, Anthony, Siro & entire Dattilo family,
Your family means so much to so many & we want you to know that you feel like family, especially after all of these years of fond memories made in the deli (the banter about football, for example, or stories about grandkids and bulldogs) and with our own family with everything from the deli that surrounded us during our special occasions. Those memories are endless, both ways. But, they are also priceless and we pray for you, our hearts go out to you and we will never forget Frank~

Oh man. I remember Frank well. Over the years I would go to his Deli and get hoagies and a couple of other items. He always greeted me with a wonderful attitude. He was very pleasant. Not once did I ever have a bad experience. I will miss seeing him whenever I go there again. My condolences to both families. I used to live in the Rhawnhurst area from 1973 to 2009.

How I loved coming into the store and seeing Frank sitting in an old beach chair! He always greeted me with "Hello Beautiful Lady", which made my day immensely. We would discuss different cheeses, recipes, and of course about beautiful Italy. It was always such an enjoyable experience going into the store, which for most people shopping is not an enjoyable experience, but at Dattilo's it always was! His smile and warm words will be sadly missed. My condolences to his entire family, especially Antoinetta, Siro and vince.
