Ferenc (Frank) Aristides Endrei
(1931-2025)
Frank Aristides Endrei passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025 at the age of 94, surrounded by his family in North Olmsted, Ohio. He was born on October 18, 1931 in Kaposvar, Hungary to Dr. Arisztid Endrei and Margit (Margaret) Meregh Endrei.
Frank immigrated to the United States along with his parents in 1949 at the age of 18. They settled with relatives in Detroit, Michigan, where Frank attended the University of Detroit and then transferred to the University of Michigan where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. While he was in college, he came to know Jesus as his Savior when he understood from Scripture that we are saved through faith by God's grace, rather than from trying to earn it through works. This became the most transformational decision of his life. He went on to Fuller Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1956. Frank felt a calling to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with his own people here in the United States, pastoring Hungarian churches in Kalamazoo, Michigan; Gary, Indiana; and Cleveland, Ohio. Frank was known for clearly preaching the gospel both in Hungarian and English services and Bible studies, and for lovingly caring for his flock.
After his love for the Lord, the next great love of his life was his wife, Ardelis Ruth Dunsmore, whom he married in 1957. His devotion to her was remarkable throughout the 68 years of their marriage. She was always at his side, supporting him in the ministry, and he continued to take loving care of her, even as her dementia progressed to where she really didn't know anyone but her "wonderful husband".
Frank was also a loving and supportive father to his three children, Paul, Bethany, and Joy. Family is one of the things he valued the most, setting aside a day each week for family time and a month each summer where the family traveled all over the United States in a pop-up camper.
Frank didn't have a lot of hobbies-his Lord, his ministry, and his family were his passions. Frank was a kind, gentle, caring man, who demonstrated Christlike character and integrity to everyone who met him. The last months of his life, he expressed an earnest desire to go home to be with Jesus. No doubt the Lord greeted him with the words found in Matthew 25:21, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Arisztid and Margit Endrei. He is survived by his wife, Ardelis Endrei, his children, Paul (Patti) Endrei , Bethany (Robert) Majetich, and Joy Endrei; and his grandchildren, Jordan (Dawn) Endrei, Natasha (Brian) Collins, Gabrielle Endrei, Promise (Chandler) Hicks, Gideon Endrei, Justin Majetich, Josiah (Kendra) Majetich, Marissa Harris; and great grandchildren Summer Endrei, Ayla Endrei, Madhumita Raymond and Armonnie Raymond Jr.
A celebration of life service will be held on November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Ascent Church, 3550 Crocker Road in Westlake, Ohio. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 that same morning at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "Ascent Church" to be evenly distributed between: Word and Deed Ministries (personal missionary friends of Frank); CRU (the campus ministry that was instrumental in bringing him to salvation); or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (the evangelist he loved and admired the most).
