Frank Fehsenfeld Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home on Dec. 18, 2024.
Frank L. Fehsenfeld, age 79 of Barrington, Il passed away peacefully amongst family, December 16th, 2024. He was born March 2, 1945 in Chicago, IL. Married to Mary Jane (nee Vasey) since June 24, 1967. Survived by his children, Julie Gray (Chuck Kuhtz), Brian (Michelle) Fehsenfeld, and Lori (Adam) Cahill. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Anthony and Olivia. He was also very close with his sister, Marilyn Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose Fehsenfeld and brother Louis Jr., and his in-laws Red and Mary Vasey.
He was the oldest of two children born to Louis and Rose (nee Polizzi) Fehsenfeld. After moving from Chicago to Fox River Valley Gardens in Barrington, IL, in 1957, Frankie then graduated from Wauconda High School in 1962 playing on the baseball team there. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 20, but never let it stop him from doing his favorite things.
He met the love of his life, Mary Jane, while going to Wauconda High School; celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary this past June. They had 3 children that Frankie was extremely proud of, and talked of their accomplishments often.
He spent his entire career working in the Tool and Die industry, with 38 years at Service Tool, International, in Elk Grove Village, and interned at Union Special in Huntley before that. He had many colleagues and work associates that became close friends, that he remained in contact with up until his passing.
Frankie was an avid fisherman-going on annual fishing trips to Canada. He was also passionate about golf, bowling, woodworking, and an Italian food lover coming from a very large Sicilian family. He had many close aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Polizzi side of the family and enjoyed seeing them over the years in and around Chicago. He also enjoyed summers up in Pell Lake, WI where his grandparents had a summer cottage.
After retiring from Service Tool and then doing some consulting on the side, he enjoyed spending his time driving his corvette, going to multiple cruise nights with his car buddies, woodworking in his shop; and selling his wood bowls and charcuterie boards, fishing in Canada, and bowling in a league for many years. Over the last 10+ years Frankie, Mary Jane, and family also enjoyed going to Plymouth, WI where they all have permanent campsites, and met new friends he became close with.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at JourneyCare hospice center in Barrington for taking phenomenal care of him on his final day of life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20 from 4-8pm at Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home, 235 N. Main St., Wauconda.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21 from 8:30am until the time prayers at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 348 W. Mill St., Wauconda. Interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) https://www.breakthrought1d.org/ or JourneyCare in Barrington https://journeycare.org/donate/

Frank, was my mentor at Service Tool International, Inc. Worked with him for 23 years. We remained as buddies as the company was sold and we both retired but we stayed in touch with a once a monthly lunch. I miss you buddy. Andy
