Frank Andrew Frankovsky, 90, passed away at his home on March 8, 2026.
Frank was born on November 24, 1935, in Jessup, Pennsylvania, to Andrew and Madeline (Kempasky) Frankovsky. He attended Scranton University and earned degrees in both physics and philosophy. He graduated in 1958 and went on to receive his Masters of Science Degree in Nuclear Physics from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduation, Frank became a staff Physicist in Nuclear Radiation Effects at IBM Federal Systems in Oswego, New York. He continued his work as a brilliant Nuclear Physicist for IBM for 53 years.
In addition to his career, Frank dedicated himself to being an active member of St. Ambrose Parish in Endicott, New York. He was a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and sang in the choir. He taught adult catechism classes, was a member of the Legion of Mary, and assisted the pastor on the altar. Frank's talents in painting and woodcarving came in handy as he repaired and painted many statues for churches and friends in the surrounding area. Frank also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brother Andrew.
Above all else, Frank cherished his spouse of 53 years, Mary Sonia, who was truly the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with warmth, family, and countless treasured memories. The two were inseparable as they traveled, played Sequence, took daily walks, attended Mass, and ate at their favorite restaurants. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion, laughter, and unwavering support.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sonia (Osier); parents, Andrew and Madeline; brother Andrew; and sisters, Josephine and Mary.
Frank is survived by his sisters-in-law, Janet Frankovksy and Mary Sandra (Osier) DeVincenzo. He is also survived by his nephew, Thomas Konecny (Florida), his nieces Maria Capobiano and Rosann Schiller, as well as several other nieces and nephews and his caregivers, "Frankie's Angels."
A Funeral Mass for Frank will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10 am at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends on Saturday at Church from 9 am until Mass time at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ambrose Parish.
