MOUNT OLIVE – Frank L. Hans, Jr. age 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Born in Williamsport, PA on February 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Frank Lois Hans, Sr. and Mary Vondella Cleary Hans. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steven Hans; and sister, Vondella Hause.
Frank proudly served his country with honor and dedication, beginning his life of service in the United States Navy. A Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War, he carried the courage, compassion, and resilience of that role throughout the rest of his life, shaping the man he became and the countless lives he later touched.
After returning home, Frank built a remarkable career in nursing – something he spoke of often with immense pride. With his trademark humor, he loved to joke about being a "good-looking male nurse," but beneath the laughter was a deep commitment to caring for others. Over the years, he served as Director of Nursing at several state prisons, at Nash UNC Healthcare, and at numerous nursing homes across the area. His leadership, experience, and unwavering dedication made a lasting impact on both patients and staff.
Outside of his profession, Frank lived life fully and joyfully. He was an avid bowler and a proud member of the Rocky Mount USBC Hall of Fame. He loved his Boston Red Sox and rooted passionately for Penn State in football. He found peace and happiness hunting in the hills of Pennsylvania, a pastime that connected him to nature and to the memories he cherished most.
Frank was also deeply involved in his community, serving as a proud member of both the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. His commitment was recognized through his service as a former Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge – an honor he held dearly.
Frank will be remembered for his service, his compassion, his humor, and his ability to make those around him feel valued and cared for. His family, friends, and all who knew him will forever carry his memory with love and gratitude.
Frank is survived by his sons, Frank L. Hans, III (Wendy), and Christopher Hans (Sara); daughter, Kimberly Hans; grandchildren, Shelby Hans, Owen Hans, Jacob Hans, Casey Hans, Jillian Inscoe, and Kinsley Hodges; step mother, Nancy Lobao; brothers, Jim Hans, and Tim Hans; sisters, Donna Boyer, and Lisa Heinzer; and his former wives, Linda Hans, the mother of his children, and Penny Hans, who both remained cherished parts of his story.
