Frank Hess Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 12, 2025.
Frank Martin Hess was born in Dallas, TX, on February 25, 1943. He went to be with his Lord and Savior November 12, 2025, after a battle with cancer. His family was by his side. He enjoyed a life filled with eternal optimism and many successes. He married Carol Ellis in 1963, and they shared 55 years of marriage.

A proud member of the U.S. Marine Reserves, Frank was disciplined and committed to being the best he could be. He was a talented athlete and coached many young men, encouraging them to reach their potential. After lettering at W.W. Samuel High School in baseball and football, Frank accepted a football scholarship to Kilgore Junior College, which then earned him a scholarship to play at McMurray College in Abilene, TX, under Coach Grant Teaff. Frank and his teammates and coaches miraculously survived a plane crash returning from a game. The plane landed on its belly with no landing gear. This led to the creation of the B.I.B.L.E. club, The Brotherhood of Indian Belly Landing Experts. As a student-athlete he earned his B.A. in Business, later obtained his Stock Broker's license and worked for several financial services firms as a Financial Advisor, including Merrill Lynch and Southwest Securities. In 1988 he co-founded an Oil & Gas company.

Frank approached life with a child-like enthusiasm, which was endearing and led to many lifelong friendships. He was a competitor, always up for a challenge! After hanging up his football cleats, he enjoyed playing softball, tennis, golf, bowling, playing cards, and arm wrestling. He also spent much time working on his always well-manicured lawn.

Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Hess, mother, Ruby Mae Hess, father, Frank Hess, and sister, Patricia Hess Kerley. He is survived by son, Bryan Hess (Debbie Aldredge), daughter Jenifer Phillips (Dan), grandsons, Dylan Hess, Tyler Hess and Brandon Aldredge. He is deeply missed by those who loved him.
