Frank Karas

KARAS, Frank R. – of Clio, age 88, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at McLaren of Flint. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Fr. Bob McGraw officiating. Burial to follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8PM, Friday from 2-8PM and on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services at 10:30AM. Contributions may be made to the family. Frank was born May 21, 1925 in Ladysmith, WI to the late Frank and Pauline (Boblec) Karas. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. He lived in Clio most of his life coming from Shields. Frank married Lucy Fitak on June 19, 1954 in Midland. He retired from Buick in 1985 as a Patternmaker with 35 years seniority. He was a member of Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church and the UAW Local #599. Frank enjoyed golfing with the Patternmakers Golf League for over 55 years. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and reading westerns. Surviving are: wife, Lucy; children, Avis (Jeff) Westfall of Clio, Darrell (Bonnie) Karas of Clio, Connie (Darryl) Smith of TN; 4 grandchildren, AJ Navidonski, Anna (Tim) Criner, Elise Smith and Ashley (Neal) Reagor; and a sister. A son, Ray Karas, also preceded him in death in 2004. The family extends a special thanks to the staffs at Maple Woods Manor and McLaren of Flint for their care.
