Frank "Twinkle Toes" Licata

Frank Licata, a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, skilled craftsman, and devoted father and grandfather, passed away on December 21, 2025 in Edmonds, WA. He was 86 years old.

Born on July 22, 1939 in Lockport, New York, Frank was the son of Peter and Josephine Licata. He grew up alongside his two older sisters, Rose and Ida, who preceded him in death. From an early age, Frank displayed a strong work ethic and an independent spirit – qualities that would define his life.

After graduating from high school, Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Though he did not pursue a long-term military career, he remained deeply proud of his service and carried the values of discipline and resilience with him throughout his life.

Following his time in the military, Frank found his calling as a finish carpenter. Self-employed for most of his career, he took great pride in his craftsmanship and attention to detail. In the early 2000's, he partnered with a close friend to build single-family homes – a venture that became the highlight of his professional life. Building homes brought him immense satisfaction and allowed him to leave a tangible legacy of hard work and dedication.

Frank's talents extended beyond construction sites. He had a lifelong passion for woodworking and enjoyed building intricate model boats in his spare time. In his younger years, he was known for his love of dancing – earning the affectionate nickname "Twinkle Toes" from family and friends. Physical fitness remained important to him throughout his life; even into his mid 80's, he prioritized exercise and refused assistance from others – a testament to his fierce independence.

A devout Catholic, Frank was a longtime parishioner at Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, he faithfully attended Saturday evening mass each week. Although hearing loss made attendance more difficult in recent years, he continued to support the church through annual tithes.

Frank's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his daughters Marianne and Jennene (Bill), son Nick (Tina), and grandsons Kyle and Hunter. His strength of character and unwavering determination left a lasting impression on those who knew him best.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery – 205 NE 205 th Street, Shoreline. The hearse will be parked in front of the main building. Vehicles will line up behind the hearse for a procession to the burial site. A Wake will be held on December 29, 2025 from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm at Frank's home. Please join the family for snacks and beverages. We would love to hear your "Frank stories" and memories.
