Frank James Lucas, 91 passed away peacefully Monday, April 11, 2022, in Kaysville, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City on July 26, 1930, to Elza and Marie Isabella (James) Lucas. He lived in the Ogden area most of his life including fifty-eight years in the house he built in South Ogden.
Frank was a graduate of Ogden High School, Weber State College, where he obtained an Associate Degree, and Brigham Young University, where he received a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Management with a minor in Economics. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Australia for two years. He then served in Korea with the United States Army from 1953 – 1955.
Frank married Joan Christensen in the Salt Lake Temple on June 27, 1958. Together they had six children, twenty-three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Frank and Joan were married for fifty-three years at the time of her passing in 2011. Frank was a loving, caring father who was involved with and supportive of each of his children. He was a thoughtful person who genuinely liked to help other people.
Frank spent many years working with his brothers in several family businesses. He had been Vice President of Lucas Builders Supply, Lucas Planing and Dry Kiln Co., Lucas Inc. and the Edgewood Wedding and Reception Center. He also worked for the Internal Revenue Service for several years.
Frank served in many church callings. He was a Cubmaster for approximately fifteen years while all five of his sons were Cub Scouts. He and Joan worked together as Ward Activity Chairmen for several years and Frank was well known and admired for the great programs and activities he helped to organize. Frank and Joan enjoyed dancing. They spent a year as co-presidents of their regional dance club. Frank liked traveling. He traveled around the world twice before he was twenty-five. He also enjoyed hiking, backpacking, deer hunting and snowmobiling.
Frank is survived by his children: Craig (Lynda) of Henderson, Nevada; Scott (Thomas) of Kaysville; Colette (Alan) Ames of Ivins; Bradford (Kalee) of Kaysville; Lance of West Jordan and Ted (Jamie) of Kaysville. He is also survived by twenty-one of his grandchildren and five of his great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, his three brothers, two of his grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Frank's funeral will be held at 11am Monday April 18, 2022, at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah. Friends may call on Sunday April 17 from 6:30 to 8pm and on Monday from 9:30am until 10:40am. Interment will be at the Hooper cemetery, 5290 S. 6300 W. Hooper, Utah.
