Frank McKay Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 26, 2025.
Frank McKay, age 69, was promoted to glory on September 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Frank was born on August 29, 1956, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to William and Carole McKay. He was saved at the age of twelve and baptized soon after. Upon the completion of high school, he furthered his education at a community college in Pennsylvania, prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force, in which he served for twenty plus years. While he was in the Air Force, he was transferred to Great Falls, Montana. While in Great Falls, Montana, he attended Heritage Baptist Church, where he met Pastor Sheldon Schearer, who introduced him to Julie Ann Sherman. About a year later, Frank and Julie were married at Hope Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While he was in the military, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Criminology. He went on to serve as a sheriff's deputy for the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office for over twenty years. Frank enjoyed serving the Lord through singing in church, going on missions trips, being a part of the church security team, and teaching Sunday school. He was also interested in several activities such as ping pong, tennis, coaching baseball, hunting, fishing, and officiating a variety of athletic events. Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years, Julie McKay; three children: Erik (Kari) McKay, Jeremy (Bethany) McKay, Emily (Sebastian) Britto; five grandchildren: Madison McKay, Heidi McKay, Josiah McKay, Ezra McKay, and Elias McKay. Frank is also survived by his three siblings: William (Terri) McKay Jr., Scott (Darlene) McKay, and Tami Pauley. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barbara Sherman. He is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, John Sherman, and his sister-in-law, Joy Anderson. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am with a viewing at 9:30 am on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church, 5424 42nd Avenue South, Minneapolis. There will be a luncheon following the funeral service. Additionally, the graveside service will follow the luncheon and will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Maps will be provided at the funeral service.
