Frank Phillips Obituary

Frank Monroe Phillips Frank Monroe Phillips, 88, of Bellingham, WA passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2025, surrounded by his family, after years of battling cancer, diabetes, and kidney failure. Frank was born on March 19th, 1937, to Henry and Margaret Phillips in Seattle, WA. He was the oldest of 8 children. He stopped attending school in the 9th grade so he could bring income into the family home. He then went on to enlist in the Marines in 1955 and acquired his GED. He was in the Air Wing as a Radar Operator as a Staff Sergeant, which led to his lifelong profession as an Air Traffic Controller. He retired after 46 years from the Bellingham Airport at 76 years old after 46 years of service as an Air Traffic Controller. Frank and his first wife had 4 children together, Tahni, Troy, Travis, and Todd. He met his wife Vicki early January 1981, and they were happily married on July 7th, 1981. Frank helped raise her 2 daughters Rikka and Darcy. He has 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He loved his family deeply and would attend their sporting events and school programs as often as he could. Frank had several hobbies which include any and all airplanes, he built model airplanes and made the airplane bicycles from scratch. He loved his John Wayne collection. He also built detail tiny miniature homes. He loved taking his kids and grandkids hunting and fishing. He loved going bowling and LOVED THE SEAHAWKS and any team that played the Broncos!! He was a strong patriot and loved the military and his country. He meant the world to our family and will be deeply missed! He is legendary to all of us! He is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Margaret Phillips, Sibling Norma Ozimek, Son Todd Phillips, Grandchildren Dustin Wilson, Adam Lavine, and Destiny Phillips. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Vicki Phillips, siblings James Phillips, Robert Phillips, Mary Silverio, Henry Phillips, Shirley Silverio, and Rose Robinette. Children Tahni Phillips (Napoleon), Troy Phillips (Teresa), Travis Phillips, Rikka Renee (Sean), and Darcy Long. 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Celebration of life will be June 20 th at 11am at Cordata Presbyterian Church at 400 Meadow Brook Court Bellingham WA 98226 with a reception to follow.

To Vicki, Rikka and and the family, I and so sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to get to know Frank over tha last few years. He was always positive no matter his health issues. He will be missed.
