Frank Ranalli Obituary

Frank A. Ranalli
December 6, 1931 - December 11, 2025
Francesco "Frank" Augustine Ranalli, beloved husband of Ann Ciarlelli Ranalli, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on Silver Street, December 6, 1931, to the late Venanzio and Sebastiana Almondo Ranalli, Frank was a lifelong Branford resident who was dedicated to his community and family.
Frank was predeceased by all of his siblings, including his brothers, Vito (Mary) Ranalli, Daniel (Dorothy) Ranalli, and George (Antoinette) Ranalli; and his sisters, Josephine (Alex) Cinquanta, Clara (Tony) Cinquanta, and Helen (Norman) Allen.
A proud veteran, Frank served in the United States Army before continuing his education at the University of New Haven. He went on to build a successful 40-year career as an Engineer with the Southern New England Telephone Company.
On October 25, 1958, Frank married the love of his life, Ann, beginning a 67-year partnership of enduring commitment, strength, and selfless love. Together, Frank and Ann built a life centered on family and tradition.
Frank valued volunteering and serving. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps; he marched at events all over, including President Eisenhower's inaugural parade. Frank belonged to the Branford Yacht Club, and enjoyed cruising and traveling. He loved taking care of his yard, tending to his gardens, cheering on the UCONN Women's Basketball Team, and spending time with his family, especially at Sunday dinners.
Frank was a loving husband, a supportive father, and a deeply proud Poppy. Frank leaves behind his children: Cynthia (William) Tischer, Frank (Geraldine) Ranalli, and Martha (Richard) Vaughn; his grandchildren: James (Mark) Swope-McShane, Taryn (Bradley) McShane, Kelsey (Marc) Montry, Brooke Vaughn, Richie (Sarah) Vaughn, and Michael Vaughn; and his great-grandchildren, Bryn Montry, and Zaid and Max Swope-McShane.
Frank was a natural caregiver, calming presence, and the person you could always count on. He will be remembered for his generosity, his compassion for all living things, his remarkable work ethic, and his warmth and wit.
Frank's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Branford EMTs, as well as his team of nurses and doctors at Middlesex Hospital who provided exceptional care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 at St. Mary Church (St. John Bosco Parish) in Branford. Interment will follow at the mausoleum at St. Agnes Cemetery, in Branford. Friends may call prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford. Please see his online memorial at www.wsclancy.com . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Branford Food Pantry or Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.
