As it says in the Bible, the Lord will say, "Servant, well done." Like so many others, Mr. Ray was a common person in an uncommon situation, but he rose to meet it, something which has always made this nation great.

I enjoyed riding on your bus as a grammer school student. Looked forward to the stop at the store before heading back to school on those special days. You will be deeply missed by everyone who knew you.

Ed was a man of his word he was my bus driver in the early 60's at Dairyland school. My family had three children on that bus that day, a day that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Ed.

The world needs more people like Mr. Ray. What a humble and courageous hero. May his soul rest in peace.

I was just a little girl myself living near enough to this crime at the time to cause my mom great fear...a touching story and a touching tribute to a true hero.

I am school bus driver too. Ed's story brings a new meaning to getting the kids home safely. I'm sorry for the loss of your brave and couragous father/husband/friend.

Wow what a beautiful story this was a true man of God and may the Lord continue to bless this family. I pray that a lot of people learn something from this man and his legacy will continue to live through all the people he touch and his children and grandchildren. I was saddened to her the news of Ed's passing. He was my busdriver for 5 years. I will never forget his kind soul. You are a hero for so many school children. Thank you. May you rest in peace.

Having been an official of CSEA during the kidnapping event, Ed Ray will never be forgotten by the citizens of the District, the families of the kids, and CSEA, his union who gave him specials acclaim and honors. A special reward in eternity for this wonderful, humble, brave and loyal man.

Mr. Ray is and always will be a hero.I pray that God will bless & comfort the family during their time of sorrow & always.

Too many times we hear about the horrible things some men will do to children and then there is a story like this about a real MAN. A man who did what we adults are suppose to do & that is to PROTECT the children ,not harm them . His family & community should be so proud of him. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. During this time, it's comforting to know that God is aware of your circumstances. As 1 John 4:8 states, he is a God of love and can provide uplifting encouragement for you. In addition, you have the loving support of family and friends.

Oh my goodness...I remember the kidnapping like it was yesterday! What he did for those children will never be forgotten. The children aboard that bus grew up quickly that day. What a wonderful earthly guardian angel they had with them during that horrible ordeal....May God bless his family with wonderful memories knowing their husband/father/(great)grandfather was a true American hero!

I remember when the bus situation made the news and was overjoyed with the ending. Those school bus children lives have been blessed as well as their future generations because Of Ed Ray.The angels in heaven are rejoicing. God will bless him for all eternity.
