The memorial service for Lemmon businessman, Frank C. Rummel, age 55, will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon with Fr Brian Fawcett, officiating.
FRANK CHARLES RUMMEL was born August 1, 1952 at Richardton, ND. He was the youngest of five children born to Frank Jr. and Margaret M. (Gallagher) Rummel. He attended school at Richardton Abbey and graduated from Richardton High School in 1970. During his high school years, he participated in wrestling and baseball, and enjoyed coaching younger kids. Frank attended the College of Pharmacy at NDSU in Fargo, ND where he became licensed as a Registered Pharmacist and met his soul mate, Peggy Ann Wolsky. They were united in marriage on May 31, 1975 at Carrington, ND. They moved to Lemmon, SD in June of 1976 where he began working at Smith's Rexall Drug.
Frank loved going to work every day. His specialized knowledge as a skilled professional made him a vital part of the Lemmon and surrounding area. He did more than just hand out medications. He monitored the health and progress of every patient to ensure the safe and effective use of medications in the best possible way. Of course, he always had a story to tell, words of encouragement, or a joke to go with each prescription to brighten one's day.
Frank truly loved the outdoors and spending time at their cabin on Shadehill Reservoir. He loved being on the lake fishing, and the fall time of year when friends and family would get together during hunting season. But most of all he loved his family. He was proud of his daughter and son and gleamed with pride when he talked about them. Also near and dear to his heart were his pets Frosty, Molly, Happy and Ally, and his restored 1971 Ford Mustang.
He loved nature and was especially proud of his grove of trees he nurtured near his cabin. He became even fonder of them when everyone told him that trees would not survive there.
He will be remembered by family and friends as a very charismatic and giving man. If he could make someone else happy, he was happy.
Frank passed away suddenly on Tuesday evening, March 4, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck at the age of 55 years, 7 months, 3 days.
Keeping him in their fondest memories are his wife, Peggy; daughter, Sarah Jo Rummel, Woodstock, IL; son, Paul Rummel, Fargo, ND; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Irene and John Hoff, Dickinson, ND; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Geri Rummel, Bismarck, ND; Gilbert's companion of 14 years, Clara McCutchan, Richardton, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Loyd and Gilbert.
A memorial has been established.
