Frank Savino Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 19, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Frank Savino, Jr. on November 6, 2025, at the age of 89.

Frank was born on February 4, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Frank Sr. and Mary (Malone) Savino. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family, beginning as a cement laborer while a young man, before moving on to local truck driving for over 30 years. At the age of 54, Frank returned to his original passion, starting up his own successful family cement business, before finally retiring in 2001.

Known lovingly as Papa, in his early years as a parent, he was famous for his never tiring providing of "horseback" rides. He spent countless hours playing ball in the backyard with his children, (who made up an entire team), and cheering on his favorite Detroit sports teams. Above all, he adored his family and the time they spent together.

Later in life, Papa loved to dance, famous for dancing on his front porch to the tunes of Louis Prima to the delight of the neighborhood. His love of music encompassed all genres, but he especially loved Elvis Presley. He had the inane ability to drop the most random facts out of the blue, and we never were ceased to be amazed that they always proved to be true.

A wonderful father and a great man; his warmth and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joan Marie (Schumaker) Savino, our fabulous Oma.

Devoted father of Lori (Earl) Degg, Lisa Savino, Frank Savino III, Lynn (Floyd) East, Michael (Lynne) Savino, Luan (Steve) Moraniec, Lana (Mitchell Sr.) Joa, Danny (Margaret) Savino, Christopher (Ioana) Savino, and Adam Savino.

Proud grandfather of twenty-four grandchildren and cherished great-grandfather of twenty great grandchildren (with three more on the way).

A private memorial will take place at a later date. Please share a memory of Frank at www.sullivanfuneraldirectors.com.
