Frank Shepard

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frank Shepard, age 83, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Hamilton Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodson Grady Shepard and Virsey Lee Shepard; sisters, Velma Jones, Betty Shepard Dallimore, Beatrice (Bea) McDonald; brother-in-law, Frank Jones; nephew, Sam Jones; mother-in-law Lois Roberts Pope.
Frank was a member of Salem Baptist Church, and an active member of The Potter's Clay Sunday School class.
Born on Wednesday, May 27, 1942 in Dalton, Georgia, Frank served in United States Army. He began his career with Candlewick Yarn Mills later joining Coronet Carpet relocating to Gainesville, GA as plant manager for their new yarn mill. While living in Gainesville he enjoyed fishing on Lake Lanier and water skiing. He moved his family back to Dalton accepting a job with Georgia Carolina Oil in sales. In 1984 he and his wife purchased their first coin laundromat, adding two additional laundromats over the next four years. He retired in 2019 after 35 years in the coin laundry business.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elaine, they would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on March 16th; sons, Scott W. Shepard (precious wife Catrina) and Gregory L. Shepard; sisters, Nell Stankewicz, Hazel Campbell (Lloyd), Peggy Patterson (Mike); six nephews, and his great friend, Tony Fuscillaro who held a special place in his heart.
Funeral services will be conducted by his son, Pastor Scott W. Shepard, and his Pastor Darey Kittle, Friday, January 16th, 2026, at 3:00pm at Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the funeral hour at 3pm at the church.
Burial will follow the service at Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Salem Baptist Church in Frank's name.
