Mr. Frank William Milton “Buda” Shields, age 71

Of Waverly, TN passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at his home. The 4th of 8 children, Milton was born on July 10, 1954 in Waverly, TN to Richard “Bubba Lee” Shields, Jr. and Josphine Spicer Shields.

For years, Milton served as a track repairman for CSX, where he dedicated his work ethic and skill until his well-deserved retirement. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his passion for life, a passion that resonated through the joyful sounds of the saxophone he played so fondly. Many will remember him as the one who would serenade them with "Happy Birthday," his music a celebration of the special moments that adorned their lives.

Milton was not just a man of labor; he was a man of spirit. A devoted member of Salter's Chapel AME Church, he lent his voice to the choir, harmonizing with fellow congregants and spreading joy through song.

In addition to his musical talents, Milton had a remarkable enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed immersing himself in all sports, with a particular fondness for tennis and unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His love for the game was evident as he passionately supported his favorite teams, often gathering with friends and family to cheer them on.

Milton also found solace in the simple pleasures of life—his vegetable garden, where he nurtured plants and shared the fruits of his labor with others, served as a testament to his generous spirit. The community felt the touch of Milton’s kindness as he provided fresh vegetables, nurturing both the earth and the hearts of those around him.

Fishing provided another avenue for relaxation and connection with nature in Milton's life. It was during these quiet moments on the water that he found peace and clarity, often sharing stories and laughter with friends. He especially loved to catch and eat crappies and buffalo. His strategic mind also found joy in the game of chess, where he would engage with others in friendly competition, challenging them while forming bonds over the chessboard.

His rich life was filled with nurturing relationships, heartfelt music, and a profound dedication to his community. Mr. Shields’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
