Frank Towne Obituary

Frank E. Towne, Jr.

Belchertown, MA — Frank E. Towne, Jr., 83, passed away January 20, 2022. Born in Belchertown on June 13, 1938, he was the younger son to Frank Sr. and Emma (Dodge) Towne. Frank has lived in Belchertown all of his life and was well known in the community for his quiet presence and great skill with small engine repair. He began building his mechanical skills as a young man at the Hudson garage working beside his brother Don Towne (2005) at Don's Auto. For over 60 year he has owned and operated Frank's Lawn Mower Repair, planning to retire this year! Frank was a collector of many things from car parts to oil cans and everything in between. Additionally, he took great interest in anything historical, anything that had a story. In his leisure, he enjoyed time at the beach with his family, as well as traveling in his motorhome with his wife Pat (2015). They enjoyed many adventures to PEI, Florida, Hampton Beach and Pennsylvania. For many years, the townspeople saw him in the Belchertown Parade in his Model T. Frank was devoted to his family and his memory will be held forever by his two children, Jim and wife Nancy of Pike Creek, TX and Marsha Bergeron and husband Roy of Belchertown. He also leaves 5 precious grandchildren, Jamason, Nathan, Mandi, Malinda and Marissa and 3 great grandchildren, Bailey, Shane and Katelyn along with cousin, Ken Snow and sister-in-law, Helen Towne. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the spring at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home with burial in Quabbin Park Cemetery. To honor his memory, please make a donation Belchertown EMS Assoc. or Belchertown Fire Department at 10 N. Main St, Belchertown, 01007. Please visit www.beersandstory.com

I was just a customer of Frank, not a family member or friend. But in my dealings with him for over 20 years, he was always a gentleman. Frank gave 'old fashioned' service, meaning I never felt like just a number in a computer. I'm saddened by his passing.

A true friend and always helpful at a moment's notice. I will remember and miss him always. I always enjoyed friendly, conversations. He never complained about anything and always had a kind word about everyone.
