Frank Willard Weeks

It was pleasure to have worked one of the largest cases in my career with Frank and having the pleasure of spending many hours in his presence. Frank was tenacious but never lost his sense of humor. I appreciated his common sense approach and candor. It didn't make any difference who you were, Frank was going to tell it like it was. He couldn't stand phonies. He was always up for hopping into that old Honda of his and driving anywhere to conduct and interview, at any time and any place. He was especially gifted in reading people. He was perfectly willing to work with anyone from any agency. He was not the least bit intimidated by any attorney, be it for the government or for the defense. He didn't pull any punches. Frank was a wonderful friend and would periodically reach out to keep in touch and to discuss the many interesting cases he had worked over the years. Frank not only traveled all over the US on cases but on one occasion traveled to Iraq. This was back when Sadam Hussein was in charge. Frank enjoyed teasing those he worked with and winding them up with his devilish sense of humor. He got one fellow investigator so worked up that he chased Frank around and around his car for a protracted period. This guy was huge and if had ever caught Frank he would have crushed him. Fortunately he ran out of steam before Frank did. I was present on one occasion when a group of us investigators were attempting to present a very complex case to an un-named AUSA. After about an hour the AUSA couldn't take any more and let out a primordial scream. All of us gasped in disbelief. Frank was very gregarious and liked nothing better than sitting in a bar for hours nursing a beer and meeting new people, many of who he welcomed into his ever growing and varied collection of friends. Some guys in law enforcement become gun nuts. Frank was a car nut. He had an old sports car parked in his garage for years. He loved to tinker, but I'm not sure he that he ever got it running. He would have parts everywhere. He loved to go to car shows all over the state and ogle the sports cars. Frank had a sympathetic ear and would listen to any issues you might be dealing with. He would not only commiserate with you, but would offer well thought out solutions. He would call later and follow up on how things were going and would make further suggestions, indicating that he had done research on the subject. I shall miss getting his calls in the late evening which frequently began with the loud chortle "Weeks here"! God's speed Frank, you will be missed.
